Welcome
Leeton’s community arts scene is a dynamic one; from theatrical groups to multicultural vocal performances, the Shire has a broad spectrum of artforms being practiced by local community members on a regular basis. What better way to open the Roxy Community Theatre than to ensure these community groups have first access to it! Their performances will constitute a dual purpose: firstly, to welcome everyone back to the venue by putting Community at the heart of this process; and secondly, to help the project managers to commission the building itself.
Building commissioning is a systematic process to test a facility’s overall design and functionality before its occupancy. Commissioning agents involve themselves in several activities for both new and existing buildings, from planning and design to operations and testing. Doing so ensures that a building is at its optimal state and conforms with the building owner’s requirements. The Roxy Community Theatre’s commissioning phase starts at the end of 2024 and finishes in early 2025 in line with the theatre’s redevelopment.
Roxy Redevelopment Committee (RRC)
The Roxy Redevelopment Committee (RRC) was formed at the outset of this transformative journey to act as the vital connection between the community and the building project leads. Since day one, our mission has been to listen to the needs, desires, and aspirations of the people of Leeton as the Roxy Theatre undergoes the most significant redevelopment in its nearly 100-year history. Through close collaboration with local residents, businesses, and cultural groups, we’ve ensured that this redevelopment reflects the heart of our town, maintaining the Roxy’s heritage while preparing it for an exciting future. The RRC is immensely proud to see the results of years of planning, engagement, and dedication come to life as we prepare to welcome the Leeton community back to this extraordinary landmark. our community is more than ready to engage with the Roxy Community Theatre in new and exciting ways!
The Roxy Community Theatre has always been more than a building—it’s a symbol of creativity, community, and shared experiences. We hope this new era will inspire a whole new generation of talent, offering endless opportunities for artistic expression and community connection.
Welcome back to the Roxy, your “Palace of Dreams.” Let’s celebrate its bright future together!
